The House on Mango Street - Sandra Cisneros

House on Mango Street is not a novel. The blurb lies. It is a series of short stories (vignettes) all about one girl named Esperanza Cordero.

I was not a big fan of the writing. I hated it, actually. I feel like every time I actually got interested in a story, it would be over. They're SO short. It's annoying.

This book is just so flat. There were some characters that has potential and that I am interested in, but then they are never mentioned again. Like Marin. Or Alicia. And Ruthie. The actual plot is quite boring. It's just day-to-day life on Mango Street. That is not interesting to me.

Simply put, this is not something I would read if my school didn't make us read it. And House on Mango Street is not something I would recommend. It's a waste of time, IMO.
