I thought this was really good. It's not like most children's books. It's a bit more real and raw. On the surface it seems like fantasy: Cassie talks about how she can "fly". But if you read between the lines, you can see that she's not really flying. She's just dreaming. About what it would be like to not be poor, to not be discriminated against because of her and her family's ethnicity. In my opinion, the bridge that Cassie (main character) keeps talking about is a symbol of what she would like to be; rich, happy and not having to struggle to survive. At least, that's my interpretation.
I recommend this book to everyone.
