Backstory: When I was in 5th grade, about to become a middle-schooler, I realized how many books in the school library I had not read, I embarked on a reading binge, reading as many books as I could before the last day of school. This is one of those books (I can't remember all the other books I read in those weeks, but I definitely remember reading this and a few others. Moving on.....)
Summary: A young artist, James, gets a calligraphy set for his 11th birthday. Marvin the cockroach, who lives under the kitchen sink in James's home, creates a mini drawing. James gets the credit for it, but they become friends. Then there is an art theft at a nearby museum and they have to work together to solve it.
My thoughts: Well, I really liked it when I first read it. That was four years ago. Maybe I should reread it. But I probably won't enjoy it as much. It was a fun mystery perfect for 9-11 year olds. Anyone older might find it very... boring.
