This was a good book. I really enjoyed reading Where the Mountain Meets the Moon. It is a enjoyable read for grades 4-7. Grace Lin combines Chinese legends and folklore with her own imagination in this book. It is the tale of a young girl named Minli. She is fascinated by her father's stories. But her village is poor and they barely make enough food to feed themselves. So Minli sets off to find the Old Man of the Moon to ask him how to change her family's fortune. Minli meets new friends as well as foes, and she, as well as her parents, learn valuable lessons about where happiness truly comes from. My favorite parts are the legends and folk tales that Minli hears throughout the story. They provide some information that moves the story along. And they were cool! Overall, I recommend Where the Mountain Meets the Moon to fans of Grace Lin, Chinese folklore and good middle-grade fiction.
