SPOILER ALERT!

Burn for Burn

Burn for Burn - Jenny Han, Siobhan Vivian I really enjoyed Burn for Burn, but a few minor things kept it from being a five-star read.

First of all, even though I love the premise, the actual reasons the girls were out for revenge was pretty weak. Mary was my least favorite of the three. She didn't seem to have much of a personality, other than being the good, innocent girl of the trio. Also, her reason for wanting revenge on Reeve wasn't too believable. I mean, I get it; he was an asshole to her in middle school, but you'd think by senior year she would have moved on already. Lillia's excuse was just as weak. If her revenge was going to be on Alex (because she thought he was having sex with her little sister), then what the hell was the deal with Lillia losing her virginity to a college guy? The Alex thing didn't even make any sense anyway because it all turned out to be a misunderstanding.

Kat's reason was the most likely and also, I really liked her character. I liked Lillia too (I loved how she was so devoted to her sister and was protective of her), but Kat was not only an interesting character but her reason for revenge was the most valid.

Even though he was a jerk to Mary (and to other people too), Reeve was a very interesting character. The whole scenario with him and Lillia during the Homecoming dance was interesting and I see a lot of potential for a complex character in Reeve.

Despite the few plot-holes/gaps in logic that I pointed out above, I did really enjoy this book and will most certainly read the sequel.

PS. Awesome cliffhanger ending.
