If I Lie - Corrine Jackson

Well, this was fan-freaking-tastic.

I LOVED this book. Usually, I'm a really critical and hard to please reader. But somehow, in this last week, I have read FOUR five-star novels. Let's hope the good luck continues.

I really like Sophie/Quinn. She puts up with so much shit; harassment and bullying from everyone, students and adults alike. But she takes it all for the sake of keeping a promise to a friend. I could never do that. She's a very honorable person, to put up with that for a friend. Even though Sophie deals with some tough situations, she's never angry or bitter. Of course she's human and cracks under the pressure sometimes but she's strong enough not to take out her frustration on others and I really admired that.

I also like how the author writes about a lot of complicated issues, but it never feels overly dramatic. She deals with them with grace and sensitivity and somehow everything is balanced out.

Of course I'm not too thrilled about the romance. I never am. But this time, it didn't take away from my enjoyment too much.

Overall an excellent YA contemporary novel. If that's a genre you enjoy, then go read it. RIGHT NOW.
