The Handmaid's Tale - Margaret Atwood

Geez, this is a hard book to review.

I did like the writing, something about it was just really nice. I know a lot of people disliked it, but I actually liked it.

And so many horrible things happen in this dystopian world, things that have some resemblance to events that take place today, so I think The Handmaid's Tale is an important book to read. So society doesn't end like this sexist nightmare.

However, there is one big problem with the story and that is the question of how this society came to exist is never answered. Why were people so eager to take away women's rights, to take away everyone's rights? We never know and that irked me.

Also, not much happens, plot-wise. So at times it's extremely boring.

Overall, an important book to read, just not necessarily enjoyable. Read it when you have lots of stamina.
